About Gene Watson's 'Love in The Hot Afternoon' (compilation)...

Album Sleeve Notes
'Gene Watson has been delivering what traditional country music fans love to hear for over thirty years.

One of the songs that distinguishes Gene as one of traditional country music's great vocal stylists is his 1975 hit 'Love in the Hot Afternoon'.  The song's steamy content was both innovative and somewhat risqué when compared to most country songs that topped the charts at that time.

Gene's talents as a singer soon made him one of country music's top artists.  He became famous for a distinct, hard country sound all his own.

In fact, Gene is considered by many to the 'King' of the hard country vocal stylists who started the hard vocal trend so prevalent in country music today.

There is something really special about a song by Gene Watson.  Even the titles and lyrics of the songs that Gene chooses to record are cleverly crafted to provoke a deeper-than-average train of thought - and no one sings them like Gene.  Listen to 'All Hat, No Cattle' and 'You Can't Believe a Thing I Say'.

It's no wonder some of country music's greatest artists are included among Gene Watson's fans.  Artists of stature such as George Strait, Randy Travis, George Jones (Saturday 12 September 1931 - Friday 26 April 2013) and Marty Robbins (Saturday 26 September 1925 - Wednesday 8 December 1982) rank high on the list of bona fide Gene Watson fans.  That kind of following may say more about Gene Watson's talent than anything else'.
