On Monday 3 June 2024, Gene Watson reflected on a wonderful night he spent at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

‘We had a fantastic night at The Grand Ole Opry on Friday 31 May 2024, where we ran into our good friend, Mark Wills.
Mark Wills is our good friend, and one of the great vocalists in country music.
Like me, he’s a proud member of The Grand Ole Opry.
He’s also a real prankster, so Friday night at the Opry, he came in the dressing room and jumped on my lap like I’m Santa Clause. As you can see, he caught me by surprise – but he made me laugh – and afterwards I think someone gave him a lollipop.
Mark opened the show and wowed the audience with a medley of Alabama hits among his own chart toppers.
He’s always entertaining, so if he’s performing near you, don’t miss his show.

Marty Stuart and Connie Smith closed out the evening entertaining the audience with all of their incredible songs.

When I got offstage from my set, I was surprised to see the Queen backstage – the Queen of Bluegrass that is, Ms. Rhonda Vincent.
I told her, if we knew she was going to drop by, we would have invited her to sing one with us – but we promised to do that another time’
