On Monday 12 May 2025, Gene Watson recalled the pleasure of working with many of country music’s greatest singers.
‘Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many of our greatest country music singers, and it’s a blessing to be able to say we’re friends.
Just as you know your good country neighbours would be there to help you in time of need, it’s the same for those of us working in the music business.
When we get together, we like to share the good and the bad stories, sometimes the odd or the funny things – but always it’s about keeping up with the friendship.
I thought I’d share a few photos from some of the shows with good friends.

This photo is from a Country’s Family Reunion Cruise.
We sure had a great time singing for all the fans.
Pictured left to right are Moe Bandy, myself, Jean Shepard (Tuesday 21 November 1933 – Sunday 25 September 2016), Jimmy Fortune, Bobby Bare, T. Graham Brown, David Frizzell and, in front, Gladys & Leroy Van Dyke.

This second photo was taken backstage at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville – it’s not usually so crowded, but on this night, it was the induction of Ashley McBride, so many artists showed up to honour her, including this star, Wynonna Judd.

Mickey Gilley (Monday 9 March 1936 – Saturday 7 May 2022) (RIP) was one of our finest singers and entertainers.
He invited me to be on his TV show, so this photo was taken after the taping.
We all miss him, but grateful that his music lives on’
