On Monday 2 June 2025, Gene Watson reflected on his love of, and fondness for, guitars, which are integral instruments within the genre of country music.
‘I don’t play guitar onstage anymore, but I still love guitars and I collect them.
At one time, my neighbour, Lance Summey, and I collaborated to start GW Guitars by Summey – a special edition guitar that Lance designed and hand-built.
At the moment, Lance is unable to build guitars due to health issues, but we hope someday he can return to it and, if so, I’ll certainly let you know.
Meanwhile, I came across these older photos, so thought I’d share them with you here.
In one (above), I’m hand rubbing the clear finish, before the electronics were put in the guitar body.
The other photo (above) is a fully finished guitar built by Lance Summey for a fan and signed by me’
