On Sunday 18 January 2026, Gene Watson’s management team at Lytle Management reflected on a weekend of music in Weirsdale, Florida.

‘There’s something comforting about traditions in Florida.
Every year, the orange blossoms bloom – and, just as reliably, Gene Watson seems to find his way back to the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale.

On Saturday 17 January 2026, at the 1:30pm show, that tradition continued, and it felt exactly right.
From the moment Gene stepped on stage, the room filled with that familiar warmth only a true country legend can bring.
He delivered a great performance – effortless, heartfelt, and full of the songs and stories fans have come to love.
It was one of those afternoons where time slows down, the worries of the world fade, and country music does what it does best.
One of the highlights of the show was meeting some new members of Gene’s band.
In true Gene Watson fashion, this came with humor.
Gene welcomed the new steel player, Leo Grassl, with a performance like he had been with the band all along.
Another new addition was Gene’s new piano player – Chris Cockburn had previously played for the Orange Blossom Opry’s house band before joining Gene’s touring group.
Gene couldn’t resist joking that he hoped the Opry would still allow him back after ‘poaching‘ one of their own.
The crowd loved it – a perfect example of Gene’s easygoing charm and connection with both the audience and the venue.
The Orange Blossom Opry has always felt like a home away from home for Gene, and the feeling is clearly mutual.
There’s a sense that, when Gene Watson is on that stage, everything is exactly where it’s supposed to be.
Just like the orange blossoms that return year after year, Gene Watson’s appearances at the Orange Blossom Opry have become something fans can count on – and hope never stops blooming.
If you were there, you know.
If you missed it, keep an eye on the calendar…because traditions have a way of coming back around’
