On Sunday 29 March 2026, Doug Boggs, a former member of Gene Watson’s Farewell Party Band, reflected on the recording of ‘The Farewell Party Band Plays Country Plus’ (BRW Records, 1982) album.
‘This is a great memory.
Gene Watson produced an album on his band.
Since MCA didn’t do it, he wasn’t allowed to put his name on it.
So, when they took our picture, we stood in front of the bus.
His name just happened to be in the marquee.
And, look who’s driving the bus.
Pictured, left-to-right, were Larry Booth, me (Doug Boggs), Chris ‘Tiny’ Olson, Daniel ’Danny’ T. Rainwater (Thursday 3 April 1952 – Friday 28 December 2018), Norman Richard ‘Norm’ Kastner (Sunday 2 September 1945 – Wednesday 18 July 2012), and Joe Eddie Gough (Friday 27 January 1939 – Friday 14 August 2009).
