On Tuesday 19 April 2022, Gene Watson recalled being surprised by his producer, Dirk Johnson, on the evening of Monday 18 April 2022.
‘Imagine my surprise when I walked into my producer, Dirk Johnson‘s, studio yesterday (Monday 18 April 2022) to see the very piano, the late, great Hargus ‘Pig’ Robbins (Tuesday 18 January 1938 – Sunday 30 January 2022) played on ‘Fourteen Carat Mind‘, which was written by Dallas Frazier (Friday 27 October 1939 – Friday 14 January 2022) and Larry Lee Favorite (Saturday 6 January 1940 – Saturday 26 May 2001), and so many of my songs (as well many hits by others).
I’m so proud for Dirk that Pig Robbins wanted Dirk to have this historic piano.
It couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person’
