In mid-June 2026, Gene Watson spoke fondly of his old country music pal, Moe Bandy.
‘Moe Bandy and I go way back.
Even before we were signed to a major record label, we worked the same circuit, hitting the same honky tonks and dancehalls from Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and more.
He’s always been one of the funniest guys you’ll ever meet, as well as one of the nicest.
Of course, once he was on a big label, the big radio hits like ‘Hank Williams, You Wrote My Life’ (No.2, 1975), ‘Bandy, The Rodeo Clown’ (No.7, 1975), ‘ ‘Til I’m Too Old To Die Young’ (No.6, 1987), ‘Americana’ (No.8, 1988), and more, started flowing, and in 1979, he was awarded the Academy of Country Music (ACM) ‘Song of The Year’ for ‘It’s A Cheatin’ Situation’, which was a duet with Janie Fricke (No.2, 1979).
Moe and I will perform a show in my hometown of Paris, Texas on Saturday 11 July 2026 at the Love Civic Center.
We’ll have fun, but also we’ll perform the very best of classic country music’
