On Saturday 3 August 2024, Gene Watson reflected on another wonderful night (Friday 2 August 2024) of country music at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
‘It was another great night at The Grand Ole Opry and, just as I walked in, I was introduced to this year’s runner up from the TV show, ‘The Voice’, 16-year-old, Ruby Leigh – a singing phenomenon.
It was Ruby Leigh’s debut on the Opry stage and she wowed the Opry crowd receiving a rousing standing ovation.
There was so much talent onstage last night (Friday 2 August 2024), including the one and only, T. Graham Brown, Connie Smith, Riders In The Sky, and Sunny Sweeney.
The night was capped by stunning acapella work by the sensational, The Isaacs.
It was a time for us to re-connect with old friends, and make new ones.
I’m a huge fan of a great songwriter, and the two ladies pictured here are also wonderful singers, as well as excellent songwriters.
Erin Enderlin has written several tremendous songs for me, and I’m sure you know SiriusXM Willie’s Roadhouse DJ, Sunny Sweeney.
If they come to perform near you, don’t miss their shows!
When we say it’s a family reunion at the Opry, we’re not kidding.
Words don’t do it justice – it’s just that special.
The Opry means so much to me, because it brings back memories of listening on our old radio with all my family gathered around.
As a kid, I couldn’t even dream of being onstage, so it really was the highlight of my life to be made a member, and I enjoy every single show we get to do there.
For this past Friday night (2 August 2024), we made the rounds, visiting with as many folks as we could.
You may recall that I purchased a vehicle from my friend, Ben Isaacs, so he came to check that I was enjoying the ride – which, of course, I am.
Our bus driver, Peanut, mentioned that it starts to shimmy when we go over 102mph, but you know I don’t worry much about that. I can fix that.
Another incredible night at the Grand Ole Opry!’
