On Saturday 9 March 2024, Gene Watson & The Farewell Party Band performed at the Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in Sheraton Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Hotel, 4440 West John Carpenter Freeway in Irving, Texas where their very own Boo Miller was inducted.
‘We set up tonight to perform for the Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, where our very own Boo Miller was inducted.
We are all proud to have this incredible musician as a friend and band member.
You never know who you’re gonna run into at the Texas Steel Hall of Fame awards.
We ran into old friend, Sarah Jory, pedal steel superstar from the United Kingdom (and toured with me in the UK).
We also ran into my old band member, and good friend, Mike ‘Spike’ Bourque.
Of course, we were there to cheer on our current steel player, the one and only Boo Miller, who was inducted.
It was a grand night for all of us at the Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame awards, when our very own Boo Miller was inducted.
We always knew he was Hall of Fame worthy, but this just makes it official.
It was extra special for me, because I was allowed to present the award, and our whole band got to perform with the Hall of Famer, Boo, at the front on his Emmons ReSound 65 steel guitar.
Another special event was having Boo Miller’s wife, the incredible singer, Lisa Layne, perform ‘Someone Had To Teach You’, which was written by Harlan Howard (Thursday 8 September 1927 – Sunday 3 March 2002), backed up by The Farewell Party Band.
Boo Miller sure made his Emmons guitar sing that night.
We’re all proud we get to work with a steel guitar legend and a super nice guy like Boo!’
