On Monday 12 February 2024, Gene Watson celebrated his 4th year as a very proud member of The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
‘This week marked the 4th Anniversary of my induction into The Grand Ole Opry, and I will always say I consider that to be the highlight of my professional career.
I know I’ve been incredibly lucky to have the opportunities I’ve had, and to make my living as a singer.
There’s not one day that I’m not grateful for that.
I had all but given up the hope of ever becoming an Opry member, and so, when the great Vince Gill shocked me onstage, letting me know I was invited to be a part of this special group, I was beyond surprised.
I could barely sing after that, and I near about had my knees give out when he gave me the invitation.
On Tuesday 13 February 2024, I had another moment on the Opry stage as The Bellamy Brothers & I debuted the ‘live’ premiere of our song, ‘Forever Ain’t Long Enough’ (written by David Bellamy).
David wrote this beautiful love song and asked me to record it with them. I was extremely flattered that they’d think of me for that, and we’re having a wonderful time with the debut this past week on SiriusXM radio, and the video premiere on people.com
On Monday 12 February 2024, I was a guest with syndicated radio folks, Big D & Bubba, and producer, Ms.Carson.
I appreciate all the media, who are helping us by playing the new single, ‘Forever Ain’t Long Enough’ (written by David of The Bellamy Brothers).
I sure enjoyed hanging out with Howard and David. They’re super smart, funny and so talented as singers/songwriters and musicians’
