‘Just heard my buddy at SiriusXM Willie’s Roadhouse, Charlie Monk, has received the Country Music Association’s ‘Joe Talbot Award’, which has only been give to nine people in the history of the CMAs.

He’s in fine company with Merle Haggard (Tuesday 6 April 1937 – Wednesday 6 April 2016), George Jones (Saturday 12 September 1931 – Friday 26 April 2013) and Alan Jackson.

The award is given for outstanding contributions to preserving and advancing country music.

Charlie plays the good stuff on his morning show, and if there’s a music event anywhere, he will be there.

He might even be at one of my shows, when I get back on the road, so be sure to say ‘hello’ and congratulate Charlie.
