On Tuesday 13 September 1994, Mark Chesnutt saw the release of ‘What A Way To Live’ (MCA Records, 1994); one of the included tracks was ‘This Side of The Door’ (written by Tim Menzies and Shawn Camp); this track was also recorded by Tim Menzies, who included it on ‘Tim Mensy’ (PJM Records, 2002), and by Gene Watson, who included it on ‘In a Perfect World‘ (Shanachie Records, 2007).
On Tuesday 17 October 2000, Mark Chesnutt saw the release of ‘Lost In The Feeling’ (MCA Records, 2000); one of the included tracks was ‘Love In The Hot Afternoon’, which was written by Kent Westberry and Vincent Wesley Matthews (1940 – Saturday 22 November 2003); the original version of this track was recorded by Gene Watson, who included it on ‘Love in The Hot Afternoon‘ (Capitol Records, 1975); Gene Watson‘s version of the track reached No.3 on the Billboard country music singles chart in 1975, and No.3 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks Chart in 1975.
On Tuesday 25 September 2007, Gene Watson saw the release of ‘In a Perfect World‘ (Shanachie Records, 2007); one of the included tracks was ‘This Side of The Door’ (written by Tim Menzies and Shawn Camp), which was a duet with Mark Chesnutt; this track was recorded on Thursday 7 June 2007, at Curb Recording Studio in Nashville was taken.

Hank Cochran (Friday 2 August 1935 – Thursday 15 July 2010) had held on to the song, until he offered it to Mark Chesnutt in 2007. The song was released to American country music radio in March 2009, debuted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart at No.60 on Saturday 11 April 2009, and subsequently reached a peak of No.49.
On Friday 26 February 2016, Gene Watson saw the release of ‘Real.Country.Music’ (Fourteen Carat Music, 2016); one of the included tracks was ‘She Never Got Me Over You’, which was written by Hank Cochran (Friday 2 August 1935 – Thursday 15 July 2010), Dean Dillon and Keith Whitley (Thursday 1 July 1954 – Tuesday 9 May 1989).

When it was pitched to me, I didn’t know if I was the right person to sing it or not, but I knew it was a tremendous song and wanted to try it.
