On Monday 28 February 2022, Gene Watson reflected on a recent visit to Ronnie’s Place, a recording studio in Nashville, where he was continuing to work on a new album project.
‘In spite of the wild weather last week, I made a quick trip to Nashville to work on the new album.
The songs are coming along, and I’ve really appreciated hearing again the great work from the session players.
When we start a new album, before we begin, I hear the instruments playing their parts in my head, but when these amazing musicians each add their part, it’s always ten times better than I even imagined.
Of course, my producer, Dirk Johnson (who also plays piano in the sessions), adds his magic touch to everything.
Nothing beats singing to a live audience, but getting to be creative in a studio with all that talent is one of my all-time favourite things’
