On Monday 12 August 2024, Gene Watson received some old photos from August 2009, and was reminded about some of the television shows he taped over the years.
‘The office sent me these old photos from August 2009, and I was just remembering some of the TV shows I’ve taped over the years.
I always say the ‘Hee Haw’ show was generally the easiest to tape, because I only had to jump off the bus and do all of it in about 30 minutes. Then I could get right back on the bus and head out to a show.
But another show I always enjoyed doing was the ‘Crook & Chase’ show, and that was simply because the hosts, Lorianne Crook and Charlie Chase, were so knowledgeable about the music business.
You could tell they had done their research on you, when you sat down to talk to them. They’d know what new music you were working on, what cities were on your tour, and just about anything an artist would want to discuss.
Plus, Charlie has such a quick wit, he would have me laughing immediately.
It was always a great show, and received a lot of awards.
Besides me, they had George Jones (Saturday 12 September 1931 – Friday 26 April 2013) and David Nail on the show.
I enjoyed sitting backstage and talking over old times with George.
We had a lot of good times when we toured together’
