On Saturday 5 March 2022, Gene Watson praised the new Emmons ReSound ’65 Steel Guitar, prior to his appearance on the hallowed stage of The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
‘The iconic Emmons Guitar company, originally founded by Buddy Emmons (Wednesday 27 January 1937 – Wednesday 29 July 2015), a legend among pedal steel players, is now under the ownership of Kelcey O’Neil and Darin Shiflet.
On Saturday 5 March 2022, Darin and Amanda Shiflet visited backstage at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, as Gene Watson’s steel player, Mike Bourque, debuted the new Emmons ReSound ‘65 model on The Opry that night.
Gene Watson, whose signature song, ‘Farewell Party‘, which was written by Lawton Williams (Monday 24 July 1922 – Thursday 26 July 2007), has one of the ultimate steel guitar solos, gave it two thumbs up, commenting on the extraordinary quality and sound’
