On Friday 25 August 2023, Gene Watson reflected on a wonderful night, which took place on Thursday 24 August 2023, at The Troubadour Nashille.
‘What a fantastic night at The Troubadour Nashville.

I want to thank Nathan Stanley for putting on this show and opening with his great music.

Nathan Stanley surprised me with a beautiful trophy labeled ‘The King of Traditional Country Music’, video tribute messages, and an early birthday cake.

Nathan Stanley then really shocked me when he had my great friend and the greatest blue-eyed soul singer ever, T. Graham Brown, walk out onstage.

T. Graham Brown blew away the crowd with his Billboard No.1 country music hit single, ‘Darlene’ (written by Mike Geiger, Ricky Ray Rector and Woody Mullis) (No.1 for one week in November 1988), and was backed by my equally smokin’ hot band, The Farewell Party Band; T. Graham Brown‘s recording of ‘Darlene’ was included on his ‘Come As You Were’ (Capitol Records, 1988) album.

Erin Enderlin was in the house. I also visited with Johnny Paycheck’s son, John Paycheck, who’s recording an album in Nashville.
Thanks to all who came out’

Gene Watson & Rhonda Vincent recorded T. Graham Brown‘s ‘This Wanting You’, which was co-written with Bruce C. Bouton and Bruce Burch (Friday 30 January 1953 – Saturday 12 March 2022), and included the track on ‘Your Money & My Good Looks‘ (Upper Management Music, 2011).

Gene Watson recorded David Ball‘s ‘A Girl I Used To Know’ and included the track on ‘Real.Country.Music‘ (Fourteen Carat Music, 2016); it was T. Graham Brown who pitched the song to Gene Watson; the original version of this track was recorded by David Ball, who included it on ‘Freewheeler’ (Wildcatter Records, 2004).
