On Monday 4 August 2025, Gene Watson reflected on a sombre night – Friday 1 August 2025 – at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

‘It was a sombre night at the Grand Ole Opry on Friday 1 August 2025, as we all learned of the passing of Opry legend, Jeannie Seely (Saturday 6 July 1940 – Friday 1 August 2025).

Our friend, the talented singer-songwriter, Erin Enderlin, performed just before us. and sang a beautiful song she and Bobby Tomberlin had co-written with Jeannie titled ‘Like I Could’, a song that Rhonda Vincent recorded.

Erin told us she’s got a new album coming out soon, produced by singer-songwriter and SiriusXM host, Sunny Sweeney.

We also enjoyed listening to another favourite singer, the tremendous talent, Connie Smith.

Later, Connie and I had a good visit as we were leaving that night’
