On Monday 16 January 2023, Gene Watson reflected on his first sold-out show for 2023.
‘It was a sold-out show this Saturday (14 January 2023) in Huntsville, Texas at Old Town Theatre – our first show for 2023.
It was a great way to start the new year. It’s always good to see an audience who loves real country music and this group was wall-to-wall fans who appreciated a steel guitar.
Our steel player, Boo Miller, was smokin’ on the new Emmons ReSound ‘65.
All my band members brought their A-game.
Besides Boo, we have our stellar band leader on guitar, Chad Phillips, drummer, Todd Hines, who keeps the beat and keeps our sound set to perfection, the one and only, Staley Rodgers, on bass, and our newest member, DeWayne Rice, a fantastic piano player, who can play in the style of the late piano legend, Hargus ‘Pig’ Robbins (Tuesday 18 January 1938 – Sunday 30 January 2022).
I hope the rest of the year goes as great as it did on our opening night for 2023!’
