On Tuesday 24 February 2026, Gene Watson remembered the late, great Hargus ‘Pig’ Robbins (Tuesday 18 January 1938 – Sunday 30 January 2022).
‘We’re looking forward to our show Wednesday 25 February 2026 in Arlington, Texas at the Arlington Music Hall, and Friday night 27 February 2026 in Tyler, Texas at Liberty Hall.
Playing two halls this week reminded me of another Hall – when I performed in 2012 at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum for the induction of the late, great piano player, Hargus ‘Pig’ Robbins (Tuesday 18 January 1938 – Sunday 30 January 2022).
I sang ‘Fourteen Carat Mind‘, which was written by Dallas Frazier (Friday 27 October 1939 – Friday 14 January 2022) and Larry Lee Favorite (Saturday 6 January 1940 – Saturday 26 May 2001), because Pig played that famous intro.
Back in the day, I wouldn’t record without Pig – he was just that good’
