On Monday 11 May 2026, Gene Watson discovered that Tammy Wynette was an accordion player.

‘The late, great Tammy Wynette (Tuesday 5 May 1942 – Monday 6 April 1998) was a friend of mine.

Whenever our tours overlapped, she’d always ask me to talk with her on her bus, and she asked me to sing harmony on her recording of ‘Tempted’ (written by Al Turney) back around 1987.
