On Monday 13 February 2023, Gene Watson reflected on a sold-out weekend of shows in Newberry, South Carolina, and Clintwood, Virginia.

Nathan Stanley presented Gene Watson with a special plaque, to celebrate his 60 years in country music, at Jettie Baker Center, 248 Dickenson Highway, Clintwood, VA 24228 on Saturday 11 February 2023

‘It was a sold-out weekend of shows in Newberry, South Carolina, and Clintwood, Virginia and we enjoyed the fans at each show.

At the Clintwood, Virginia show, I was surprised to receive the beautiful plaque (photo above) as a gift from Nathan Stanley, grandson of the late Dr. Ralph Stanley (Friday 25 February 1927 ‚Äď Thursday 23 June 2016).

The plaque was in honour of my 60 years in country music, and was presented to me by Mr. Danny Lambert, Mayor of Clintwood.

Nathan Stanley also gave me a beautiful crystal microphone and the inscription reads: ‘To Gene Watson, The Singer‚Äôs Singer – You are the greatest!’
