‘Everyone I know was glad the year – 1972 – when Loretta Lynn (Monday 14 April 1932 – Tuesday 4 October 2022) won ‘Entertainer of The Year’ from the Country Music Association.

Loretta Lynn was such a special friend to me when I first started.

I probably wouldn’t be where I am with my career, if not for Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty (Friday 1 September 1933 – Saturday 5 June 1993).

Loretta Lynn allowed me to ride her bus, and I alternated using her band and Conway Twitty’s when I opened shows for them.

They treated me like family’
