On Monday 12 January 2026, Gene Watson reflected on the first show of his 2026 tour schedule.
‘We started our 2026 tour right this weekend with a fantastic audience in Lubbock, Texas at the Cactus Theatre.
The response to each song with their enthusiasm and great applause meant everything to us, and we hope they know how much we appreciated it.
We have some good young acts that are holding onto real country music – like Zach Top, Randall King, Ella Langley, Charley Crockett, Zach Bryan, and ones who’ve been at it awhile like Cody Johnson.
I’m grateful for their persistence – holding onto some tradition.
