Gene Watson Peer's Quote from Moore & Moore (Debbie & Carrie): August 2012

Gene Watson's Peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson's Peers, who were contacted during 2012, were most gracious with their time and words.

It is here, within this special part of The Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Moore & Moore (Carrie & Debbie Moore), which they submitted to this site on Monday 6 August 2012.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Moore & Moore (Carrie & Debbie Moore) who made a special contribution to this unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

Moore & Moore (Carrie & Debbie)

Moore & Moore (Carrie & Debbie Moore)
This quote was submitted on Monday 6 August 2012.

'Gene Watson never ceases to amaze us with his incredible voice.

We were honoured the first time we were able to perform with him and continue to be amazed every time we work together'

Thank you, Moore & Moore (Carrie & Debbie Moore), for your support of Gene Watson.

About Moore and Moore (Carrie & Debbie Moore)...

Moore & Moore (Carrie & Debbie)

Moore & Moore (Carrie & Debbie Moore) are twin sisters who have sung together all of their lives and there is something really special about the close-knit harmony they create.  Adept at working with an audience and making them part of their performance, Moore & Moore give the all out kind of show that only comes from the heart.

Carrie and Debbie Moore hail originally from Belton, Missouri.  It was easy to see that these two were destined for musical careers.  As young girls, they were shy performers, resulting in hiding behind the family couch when relatives tried to coax them to perform.  To see them on stage today, you would never guess that they would ever do anything else.  They grew up listening to old records and would memorise all the words.

By the time they were teenagers, Carrie and Debbie Moore were performing in their church choir, at weddings, talent shows and in numerous school groups.

Moore & Moore wrote their high school graduation song and were voted 'Most Talented' by their senior class.  They also sang their senior class song at Kansas City Music Hall for graduation.  After hearing the applause and seeing how they could touch people through their music, they knew from that moment on that they were put on this earth to sing.

After playing clubs all over the United States and Canada, Carrie and Debbie Moore made the move to Nashville.  It was a good move for Moore & Moore.  In 1991, they saw the release of their first single, 'Out With The Old', which stayed at No.1 for seven weeks on the Independent Chart.  This is still the longest running No.1 debut single in Independent Chart history.  The accompanying debut video won 'Video Challenge' five nights in a row on The Nashville Network's 'Video PM'.

There have been four No.1 singles since that release: 'Steal Me A Heart', 'Don't Come Knocking', 'Break Down The Walls' and 'I Surrender'.

Between 1991 and the present day, Moore & Moore received several awards and nominations from Indie Bullet, Airplay International, TNN / Music City News Awards, BMI, NSAI and NATD.

Their success prompted appearances on WTBS's 'Roots of Country' with Robert Oermann, The Sally Jessy Raphael Show and TNN's 'Nashville Now', Video Morning, Video PM, Country Beat, Miller & Company, Music City Tonight, Club Dance, Wildhorse Saloon Show, TNN Country News, The Statler Brothers Show and Prime Time Country, and various shows on CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, GAC and CMT.

In 1994, Moore & Moore were asked to go on tour as the opening act for The Statler Brothers.

In 1995, Moore & Moore were honored to make their first appearance on the world famous stage of The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Jerry Springer: 'Dr. Talk' (Springer Yankee Company, 1995)

It was also in 1995 when Moore & Moore toured with Jerry Springer and were featured on his country music album, 'Dr. Talk' (Springer Yankee Company, 1995).

In 1996, Moore & Moore performed in Korea and Japan for the military and received the Award for 'International Duo of the Year'.

In 1997, Moore & Moore toured Europe with The Bellamy Brothers (Howard & David Bellamy) and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Mark Wills: 'Wish You Were Here' (Mercury Records, 1998)

In 1998, Debbie Moore co-wrote 'Wish You Were Here' with Bill Anderson and Skip Ewing; the track was recorded by Mark Wills, who included the track on 'Wish You Were Here' (Mercury Records, 1998).

'Wish You Were Here' (written by Debbie Moore, Bill Anderson and Skip Ewing) was No.1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks Chart for one week in May 1999, and No.1 on the R&R and Gavin Chart in May 1999.

In 1999, Moore & Moore toured Australia and Europe.

Today, Moore & Moore continue to tour all over the world and have received numerous awards, including 'Country Duo of The Year' and 'International Entertainer of The Year'.
