Gene Watson Peer's Quote from Janice Maynard: September 2013

Gene Watson's Peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson's Peers, who were contacted by The Gene Watson Fan Site, during 2013, were most gracious with their time and words.

It is here, within this special part of The Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Janice Maynard, which she submitted to this site on Saturday 21 September 2013.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Janice Maynard who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

Janice Maynard

Janice Maynard
This quote was submitted on Saturday 21 September 2013.

'As far as I'm concerned, Gene Watson is one of the finest and smoothest male vocalists of all time.

He has an unmistakable, unique voice like no other, and is one of my biggest heroes and influences in country music!'

Thank you, Janice Maynard, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Janice Maynard...

Janice Maynard

Janice Maynard is a traditional country artist straight from the heart of Texas.

Janice Maynard has been likened to some of the greatest classic country female singers of all time, including Lee Ann Womack, Rhonda Vincent and Tammy Wynette (Tuesday 5 May 1942 - Monday 6 April 1998), yet has a distinct country voice that’s all her own.

Born into a musical family, and then later marrying into one, Janice Maynard has made singing country music a way of life for her.  The only explanation for her unique, pure, heartfelt way of delivering a song is that it is simply, and unmistakably, a God-given talent.

Growing up, Janice Maynard's father’s job kept her and her sister overseas quite a bit throughout their childhood, but not without every classic country album you could think of.  Janice Maynard's Dad had them all.  Janice Maynard relished the times they spent back home in central Texas at family reunions when her Dad, uncles, aunts and cousins would sing and play, long into the wee hours of the night.  Janice Maynard loved sitting at their feet, listening intently.

Those times had a strong impact on Janice Maynard and were the foundation that shaped her passion for music.

Janice Maynard later married into a very talented musical family, soaking up all the musical knowledge she could and enjoying all the picking and singing that went on, on a daily basis.  'Everybody in the family plays, sings, or both.  It’s great!' she says.

In 2010, Janice Maynard began performing on the Texas Opry circuit and was a guest performer on 'The Shotgun Red Show' and 'Tru Country', which both aired on RFD-TV.

Janice Maynard: 'There's A Better Way' (Janice Maynard Independent Release, 2010)

It was also in 2010 when Janice Maynard saw the release of 'There's A Better Way' (Janice Maynard Independent Release, 2010), which was produced by Steve Maynard, with assistance from his brothers Ricky Maynard and Jerry Maynard.

Janice Maynard's 'There's A Better Way' (Janice Maynard Independent Release, 2010) was a traditional country music of high quality material, augmented by generous helpings of fiddle, pedal steel guitar, electric lead guitar, piano, mandolin, acoustic guitar, mandolin, bass and drums.
