RolandNote is the creation of Tom Roland, a veteran music journalist and author, who has been covering country music since 1980.
Tom Roland is a graduate of the music business program at Nashville’s Belmont University, who has written for Billboard, The Tennessean, The Hollywood Reporter, Westwood One Radio Network, United Stations Radio Network, The Orange County Register, GACtv.com and CMT.com, among many others.
Tom Roland has also authored two books: ‘The Billboard Book of Number One Country Hits’ (published in 1991) and ‘Beautiful Mess: The Story of Diamond Rio’ (published in 2009).
RolandNote originated as a book idea. In 1994, Tom Roland planned to write a book which would detail country music history day-by-day.
But, as work on the book progressed, so did the growth of the internet. With that in mind, in January 2001, Tom Roland began turning his project into what has become RolandNote, a site which boasts more than 52,000 dated entries.
In all, Tom Roland invested an estimated 13,000 hours in RolandNote before it was launched in June 2007.
