About Gene Watson's 'Best of Gene Watson'...
Overview

At the time of the release of Gene Watson's 'Best of Gene Watson' (Curb Records, 1996), Gene Watson had been a recording artist with the independent record label Step One Records for three years, his first album release for the label having been 'Uncharted Mind' (Step One Records, 1993) in 1993.

Gene Watson's days as an artist on a major record label came to an end in 1991 with the release of 'At Last' (Warner Bros. Records, 1991).  Gene Watson's major label career had involved stints with Capitol Records (1975-1980), MCA Records (1981 - 1984), Epic Records (1985 - 1987) and Warner Bros. Records (1988 - 1991).

During his tenure at MCA Records, Gene Watson had seen the release of a total of seven albums for the label, including the following:

'Between This Time & The Next Time' (MCA Records, 1981)
'Old Loves Never Die' (MCA Records, 1981)
'This Dream's on Me' (MCA Records, 1982)
'Sometimes I Get Lucky' (MCA Records, 1983)
'Heartaches, Love & Stuff' (MCA Records, 1984)
'Little by Little' (MCA Records, 1984 & 1990)
'Texas Saturday Night' (MCA Records, 1985) / this album was a compilation release

Gene Watson's 'Best of Gene Watson' (Curb Records, 1996) included tracks from three MCA album releases, 'Sometimes I Get Lucky' (MCA Records, 1983), 'Heartaches, Love & Stuff' (MCA Records, 1984) and 'Little by Little' (MCA Records, 1984 & 1990) and, in its own unique way, helped to celebrate Gene Watson's time at the label.
