Gene Watson Peer’s Quote from Debbie Hullett: September 2025

Gene Watson's Peers

Gene Watson’s Peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as ‘the singer’s singer’ – and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson’s Peers, who were contacted during 2025, were most gracious with their time and words.

It is here, within this special part of The Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Debbie Hullett, which she submitted to this site on Wednesday 3 September 2025.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to Debbie Hullett who made a special contribution to this unique part of this online ‘celebration of a Lone Star Hero’.

‘I have been a fan of Gene Watson for years, so when my friend, Roger Ball, called to tell me that we had a Gene Watson cut, I was ecstatic!

Roger told me I could come down to the studio and listen.

When I heard ‘Give Her My Best’ sung by Gene Watson, I couldn’t imagine the song done any other way.

In early August 2025, Gene Watson received a visit, on his tour bus, from acclaimed acoustic guitarist and songwriter, Roger Ball.
