‘Farewell Party’ was also recorded by Gene Watson, who included it on ‘Reflections‘ (Capitol Records, 1978); Gene Watson‘s version of the track reached No.5 on the Billboard country music singles chart in 1979.

On Thursday 8 May 2025, during the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards Show, Alan Jackson performed ‘Remember When’ before accepting his ACM Lifetime Achievement Award.
Alan Jackson had the whole arena in tears with his emotional performance of ‘Remember When’ at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.
With his final tour coming soon, and health issues pushing him to retire, this wasn’t just another song – it was a heartfelt goodbye. No big lights or effects, just Alan Jackson, soft blue lighting, and home videos playing behind him.
As Alan Jackson sang about growing old with his wife, Denise, and raising their family, every word hit deeper. His voice cracked at the end, and you could feel it – this was more than music.
It was a thank-you, a farewell, and a moment no one there will forget.
Alan Jackson accepted the Academy of Country Music’s inaugural ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, which is named in the legendary artist’s honour.
